The Crook of Devon Institute was gifted to the community in 1911, and has been used as the village hall since that date. It has provided the village with a venue to hold everything from dances to youth clubs, from exhibitions to public meetings, and as a village we need to ensure that the Institute continues to be used extensively. The hall is currently used for both regular activites, and for one-off events, and is available for rental on an hourly basis. Various clubs and groups have regular bookings - check the diary on the right to see what's on. The Institute is nearing it's 100th birthday and there is now a programme of renovation and extension to take place to restore it to its former glory - see the fund raising section below

As many of you will know, there is a significant amount of renovation works required to bring the Institute up to a "modern" standard - central heating, building repairs, windows etc. all require significant upgrading. The committee have agreed on a programme of works which will cost £250,000, and have set a target of £70,000 to be raised by the local community A fund raising committee has been set up to drive this forward, and a series of events have been organised to take place each month, with all proceeds going directly into the renovation fund. If you have any time free to assist the committee, then please get in touch, and if you have any fund raising ideas, we would love to hear from you also. Events will be advertised on the website, so keep checking back to get the latest updates, and please keep supporting the fund raising efforts. |
