The Crook of Devon Institute was gifted to the community in 1911, and has been used as the village hall since that date. It has provided the village with a venue to hold everything from dances to youth clubs, from exhibitions to public meetings, and as a village we need to ensure that the Institute continues to be used extensively.

The hall is currently used for both regular activites, and for one-off events, and is available for rental on an hourly basis. Various clubs and groups have regular bookings - check the diary on the right to see what's on.

The Institute is nearing it's 100th birthday and there is now a programme of renovation and extension to take place to restore it to its former glory - see the fund raising section below

As many of you will know, there is a significant amount of renovation works required to bring the Institute up to a "modern" standard - central heating, building repairs, windows etc. all require significant upgrading. The committee have agreed on a programme of works which will cost £250,000, and have set a target of £70,000 to be raised by the local community

A fund raising committee has been set up to drive this forward, and a series of events have been organised to take place each month, with all proceeds going directly into the renovation fund.
